Window Project//

Deadline: 15th February 2021 23:59

It has been more than a year since the outbreak of the COVID-19, the world seems to be more fractured than ever. It has made inequalities and divides more visible, privileged still enjoy their privileges, while crises of economies, the environment, mental health, political suppression and violence are exacerbated in the shadow of the pandemic. How does art position itself under these contexts, while artist are both privileged and precarious?

At the beginning of 2021, we are thrilled to introduce you to the Window Project // Fenster-Projekt. Throughout the better part of 2020, we experienced the closure of cultural venues. Community projects and events became abruptly impossible, — then, the ability to experience diverse art and culture through exhibition and performance spaces became likewise impossible. Now, we are adjusting and adapting to the new realities of the pandemic world.

Window Project // Fenster-Projekt is a bi-weekly exhibition of both Berlin-based and transcultural artists. Each artist will have their work solo-exhibited in the large store-front style windows of Prenzlauer Studio for two weeks. Passer by can view a varied display of artists’ voices and media. Every two weeks we offer a new exhibition, which can be enjoyed safely outside, at  any time,  at  a distance, in a pandemic-safe manner.
In this open call, we welcome all kind of mediums of artworks. Themes are not limited, but we are especially welcome artworks related to mental health, racism and politics. There is no application fee, and we will cover the expense of installation and printing, if necessary. We especially welcome applications from artists identifying as POC / LGBTQ+ and artists who identify with displacement, diaspora and dislocation. Please share only as much of your identity as you are comfortable in your application!
